Statistically, by keeping working adults healthy and eliminating emergency medical bills, your $200 donation will generate over $4,000 in direct economic savings for these families over the lifespan of the systems. This is huge because the average annual income in these communities is only about $2,000. The filters will also prevent hundreds of cases of diarrhea among young children in the community. While this might sound insignificant, these illnesses rob growing children of vital nutrients they need for proper brain development, which is especially critical in rural Cambodia, where micronutrient-poor rice dominates the diet.
