Clean Water for End-of-Life Care in Rural Guatemala

Here's a wonderful opportunity to help sick and elderly Guatemalans get access to clean drinking and medical water.

They need all of the help they can get during this difficult time.

This project will provide clean water for medical use and drinking water for an end-of-life facility that is being constructed in Cerro de Oro, Guatemala; a rural and impoverished community.

Feasible options include:

  • Delivery of treated water by a local water treatment company

  • Rainwater collection, storage, and membrane filtration or disinfection

  • Well water treatment and pump repair

  • Lake water treatment (advanced due to heavy metals and arsenic)

If we can raise enough money, we would like to provide clean drinking water for the entire community - many residents still drink untreated rain and lake water.

Our Partner in Compassion

We've partnered with Gospel of Life Disciples and Dwellings (GOLD), a Texas-based group with a mission is to provide end-of-life care for the sick and elderly, with a focus on those who are impoverished and in greatest need of assistance

GOLD has already installed electricity and begun construction of a hospice house in Cerro de Oro, Guatemala

  •  Clean water for medical care and drinking water is the most critical need to help provide adequate care for the sick and elderly in this rural, impoverished community

GOLD and our president, Stephen McCord, PhD, PE, will be visiting Cerro de Oro in July, 2025 to determine the most practical approaches for providing safe and reliable water.

Project Goals

  • Our goal is to raise $5,000, which would be enough to provide a robust pump, storage, and water treatment system that could provide clean water for the entire community for many years to come.

    • Less than $1,000/yr would be required to meet the demands of the newly constructed hospice house

  • Our founders have donated $500 to get us started.

  • Donating $20 is enough for one patient for 3 months!

Donations can only be used for the following purposes:
