In the Democratic Republic of the Congo
Clean water changes everything.
Clean water is the first step towards a functional society — health, food, peace, education, and progress.
But in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), many people drink from streams, ponds, and muddy puddles, while waterborne diseases run rampant. Their water infrastructure was largely destroyed during Africa's World War, which killed more than 5 million people and left millions displaced.
Today, communities are begging for clean water and are ready to rebuild. We can’t do it alone, so we've partnered with PALPER, a local DRC-based nonprofit working in the heart of the crisis. Together, we're providing simple, life-saving Sawyer filters, while we work to design larger community systems to help even more people.
You can join our mission.
With just $50, you can place a family-size filter in the hands of people who are drinking from puddles right now — and if you’re able to give more, your support also helps design and build larger treatment systems that will protect entire communities.
Together, we can provide the gift of health — drop by drop, family by family.
Clean drinking water to ease suffering in a humanitarian crisis
If you were interested enough to get this far because you were intrigued by the idea of saving a life by providing practical clean water solutions, then look no further - this is the PERFECT opportunity.
Decades of armed conflict have plunged eastern DRC into an extreme humanitarian crisis. In North Kivu province, over 500,000 people have been displaced, their lives and livelihoods shattered. As they flee violence or attempt to return to what little remains of their homes, they face a silent, relentless enemy: the lack of safe drinking water.
Most essential water infrastructure has been destroyed, forcing entire communities to rely on contaminated streams and unprotected sources. This has ignited a public health catastrophe, with deadly but preventable waterborne diseases—cholera, measles, and others—tearing through the most vulnerable populations.
Potable water is rare and unreliable,
but guaranteed to bring a smile when present

In a Partnership with DRC-based NGO, PALPER asbl, this project aims to provide clean drinking water for 4 impacted territories in the DRC:
-
Rutshuru - home to an estimated 400,000 displaced refugees and 90% non-potable water sources. This community needs clean water!
-
Masisi - a rural community that is suffering from a measles epidemic, with a lack of clean water and an ongoing chlolera crisis (127 new cases/month) compounding these health issues.
-
Goma - the provincial capital, containing extremely dense displacement camps with high rates of disease, poor sanitation facilities and very limited resources.
-
Nyiragongo - a community that is suffering from a monkeypox epidemic, an ongoing chlolera crisis (120 new cases/month), and damaged water infrastructure.
