Can you provide more details on how you help communities in need?We start by connecting with communities in need: We use outreach programs and work with a variety of university partners, other non-profit organizations, and water-resource professionals to identify communities in need. We perform technical and cost-benefit analyses to identify the best solutions: Next, we work to gather background information, identify the problem, and identify cost-effective solutions. When information is inadequate to diagnose the problem and/or identify the solution, we work with local universities, consultants, and government agencies to collect the necessary information. After a thorough analysis, we summarize our findings - the problem, potential solutions, estimated costs, and anticipated benefit for the community. We work to obtaining funding for the solution: The summary of our analysis is used for the following: To drive interest from donors in our crowd funding campaign (The Clean Water Help Program). To encourage solution providing partners to donate products or services (The Solution Provider Program). To be used for identifying and applying for grants. We often utilize proceeds from our funded US-based work and general donations to subsidize the cost of the intervention when adequate funding is not available. We forge collaborations for effective solution implementation: Once we have the funding necessary, we work with solution providers to develop a game plan for success. This involves facilitating a collaborative communication network between solution providers, local government agencies, and community members. When possible, we work to ensure that locals are hired, trained, and paid fair wages to assist with the project. This not only brings a improved water resources to the community, but also stimulates the local economy. We stay connected to sustain success: It is critical to ensure that the root and sources of the original problem has been addressed so that the solution can be permanent. In addition to addressing the root of the problem, many solutions require on-going maintenance, such as drinking water filtration systems for small communities. We work with local professionals to train community members so that they can maintain and troubleshoot their new clean water solutions. Finally, we stay connected with each and every community we help, providing free lifetime technical assistance and support.

How do you finance your operations? We are currently a volunteer-based organization and no one in Clean Water Help is paid a salary. We also do not currently have an operating budget and all operational expenses are donated by our founders. The goal of our organization is to minimize administrative costs. A large operating budget inevitably requires accountants, lawyer fees, and administrative staff. In order to avoid these costs, we work to get the funding directly to the communities in need - we write grants so that they get the award and we setup crowdfunding campaigns so that it goes directly to them. This allows us to focus on problem solving (our passion and expertise), rather than administration.

How can I get involved? There are so many ways to help! You can become a volunteer. You can help promote our crowd funding campaigns - reposting to social media and spreading the word. You can subscribe to our mailing list to receive updates. You can tell your friends, family, and colleagues about us. You can help us develop educational and outreach material. You can partner with us to perform a research project to better understand and implement solutions. You can advocate for clean water within your own community.
